What is a Bat Mitzvah?
Bat mitzvah means “daughter of the commandments” it
is supposed to be when they are responsible for
their own actions, and know the difference between
right and wrong.
Bat mitzvahs only really began in 1922, bar mitzvahs (for boys at the age of 13) already existed. The majority of Orthodox Jews reject the idea that a girl can read a section out from the Torah at their bat mitzvah, but many disagree.
A Bat Mitzvah is the female version of a coming of age celebration of the Jewish faith. The parties for girls occur most often when they are twelve years old, and are then they are held responsible for their own decisions. Bat Mitzvahs are hosted by the parents, grandparents and friends and can be really fun
Bat Mitzvahs have become more popular in the modern day. Traditionally, only bar mitzvahs for boys were held with celebration and massive parties! A century ago there weren’t celebrations for either child except for a religious ceremony. Today it is regarded as a very important point of live for Jewish children.
If you want to bring a present to the bat mitzvah, it would be just like any other present for a 12 or 13 year old girl, there is a party and a ceremony and you give presents at the party.
You don't have to be Jewish to go to a bat mitzvah.
It is not actually written down that any such celebration should take place or even the ceremony! A girl automatically becomes a Bat Mitzvah when she turns twelve, so the celebration is not compulsory.
A twelve year old girl, on the day of her bat mitzvah would read out a section from the torah, this being the first time she ever does this. Some jews don't believe that girls should do this, but many jews are accustomed to this new thing.

Bat Mitzvah Party
One game is very similar to pass the parcel except
you have to stand up its called, ‘Pass the Bat
Mitzvah Parcel’. For it you need music, a prize and
several bags or socks, like pass the parcel would
have wrapping paper. Place the prize in one
bag/sock and place that bag into another and
another until you have many layers for your parcel.
If there are lots of people, the more bags or socks
you put on! Then you continue like pass the parcel,
until the last person gets the prize.
A bat mitzvah party is like any other party, games, music, laughing, presents. If you wanted to buy a present for a bat mitzvah then you should buy a kind of present that a 12 year old girl would like to get. if you were a close family member you would give them a more traditional Jewish present like If you were to get a voucher, the best amount to get is £18 as the Hebrew word for life, which is “chai”, has the numeric value of 18 in Judaism.
